Computers in Patient Consulting and Office Management
All patient photographs and X-rays can be viewed, shown and edited at every work station in our office in Mannheim. The impressive simulation of different treatment options on the basis of the patient’s photograph is possible in front of the patient’s eyes. Thus, we can visualize the probable changes of our treatment without the incomprehensible medical language.
Treatment Simulation and Digital Photos
The treatment simulations can be viewed on the screen, but as well be printed out or handed out to the patient or other physicians. This is especially useful for comprehensive treatments in adults as they are primarily interested in the aesthetics of their face.
Thanks to the digital picture editing we can send letters with enclosed before and after pictures to every patient and their dentist after having finished the treatment.
After completing the treatment, our patients receive all photos from before and after on a USB stick – since a picture is worth a thousand words, this is a gratefully accepted service.
Digital Organization of Files
Moreover, the files and appointment organization are managed by the computer network – no one longs to return to the times when you had to carry the extensive paper files through the office.
One of the biggest advantages is that all information can be viewed at every work station without loss of time: like this, over the phone questions concerning treatments completed a long time ago can be answered immediately.
The Invisalign System and Intraoral Scanner
Computer support in Invisalign Treatment, a method of orthodontic treatment using a series of removable, transparent aligners, is of particular interest.
A full 3D simulation of the entire treatment before the start of it is offered, which patients can also view or receive by e-mail.
Changes can still be made during this phase. Only after confirmation, the aligners used for Invisalign are produced with CAD / CAM help.
Since December 2018, we have been able to replace the traditional impression taking in our practice in Mannheim with a scan using the iTero intraoral scanner from Invisalign.
The iTero scanner provides more accurate data than a traditional impression with a type of oral camera, but is much more comfortable!
Similarly, the scans of the teeth can also be used in the lingual technique.
